Cartagena Viva is an application created by the Cartagena City Council with the aim of bringing the technology of the future to our city. In this way, Cartagena is positioned at the technological level of large Spanish capitals such as Madrid, Valencia, or Malaga; betting on Data Science and its use for the benefit of the city and its citizens.

Cartagena is a charming city, both to visit and to live in. Its historic streets attract tourists from within Spain and abroad, while at the same time allowing its residents to enjoy an urban environment with an ideal climate, size, and architecture. But the city must adapt to the digital transformation of society to continue responding to evolving needs and remain attractive to consumers. For a city like Cartagena, this adaptation has two key aspects: firstly, the visitor, who is fundamental to Cartagena's circular economy and who desires greater independence; and secondly, the citizen, who needs to communicate with government agencies directly and effectively.

Cartagena Viva is an application from Cartagena City Council that uses Data Science to improve the city and its inhabitants.

The app allows the end user to choose their profile: resident or visitor. The business has an internal management platform that reflects the "resident" or "visitor" profile, as applicable.

For residents, it offers a platform that facilitates access to municipal services, the completion of administrative procedures, and participation in municipal decisions, thus improving efficiency and the quality of urban life. The application allows end users to choose their profile, either as a resident or visitor, and access information and services tailored to their needs.

Visitors benefit from an enhanced cultural and tourist experience, with the ability to explore the city through themed routes that include detailed descriptions and accessibility information. This feature not only allows them to learn more about Cartagena, but also helps them navigate and discover the city's points of interest.

Local businesses benefit from an internal management platform that is reflected in resident and visitor profiles, thus promoting the local economy and offering businesses greater visibility and participation in the city's ecosystem.

In the sports field, the app promotes sporting events and integrates sports facilities, thus encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle among citizens and visitors.

Captura App 2

The app offers 6 routes (archaeological, blue trail, modernist and eclectic, sculptures, baroque and neoclassical and contemporary) to explore the city. Each route has a description of the historical period to which it belongs and a summary of what can be seen, as well as information on distance and accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

The app tells the user how to follow the route and the points of interest along the way (map view).

From the "Businesses" button, the user can choose whether he wants to see commercial offers from businesses that are close to him, in order to take advantage of discounts when he is near the business. Small businesses can offer tourists who pass through their area promotions and discounts so that they enter their businesses.

In addition, visitors will be able to access all the city's tourist information, such as:

What to do today? Museum opening hours, virtual tours, accessible tourism, tourist offices, hiring a tourist guide, active parks, shops, and other services: street map

Resident profile

Captura App 3

The Cartagena Viva app is a tool that facilitates communication between residents and the Cartagena City Council, offering the following advantages:

1. Access to municipal information from anywhere and at any time, without having to travel or wait in lines.

2. Check and pay taxes, fines, bills and municipal fees easily and safely, with different payment options.

3. Application and management of administrative procedures, such as registration, licenses, certificates, grants, etc., with digital signature and monitoring of the status of the application.

4. Citizen participation in municipal decisions, through surveys, consultations, suggestions and complaints, as well as access to the agenda of cultural and sporting activities.

5. Notifications on topics of interest, such as traffic disruptions, weather alerts, health warnings, etc.

6. Location and contact with municipal services, such as local police, firefighters, civil protection, health centres, libraries, etc., with interactive maps and direct calls.

Active parks

Both the resident and visitor profiles include a section on "active parks" that promotes the use of spaces for sports and recreation within the city.

The user locates the city's active parks using GPS positioning, and details are provided for each park's accessibility conditions via bike lane, running lane, trails, sidewalks or city bus.

Once there, the user will have access to video tutorials and other audiovisual information to learn what exercises can be performed in the park.

For each machine or activity to be carried out in the park, the user will be provided with demonstration videos and simple, clear instructions to follow, as well as the benefits of said activity.

Platform for trading

Cartagena Viva also promotes the digitalisation of local commerce with a specific section for this purpose, offering a showcase for all users of the app and facilitating the dissemination of exclusive offers on the digital platform.

Cartagena merchants will be able to register in the system to offer deals and benefits to users who are near their establishments, increasing their sales and contributing to tourism generating more income in the city.

From the app, the visitor/resident has access to:

1. Access to all local businesses participating in this initiative, sorted by category and without distance limitations from the user.

2. Option to know all the offers and discounts available in real time.
